Settled between 1679 and 1680, the Port of Charleston is one of the oldest ports in America, playing an important role in American colonial history, and later, in the American Civil War. Today this historical port is one of the largest container and intermodal ports in the United States. McAllister Towing of Charleston provides impeccable towing and harbor assist services in Charleston Harbor, as well as offshore towing on the East Coast, Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico.
McAllister arrived in Charleston in the early part of 1987 and shortly thereafter purchased Marine Contacting and Towing Company from the Seabrook family. Vice President Joe Buckheister, who was the Operations Manager at Marine Contracting, has over 30 years of experience in the tug industry. He began his career working in the harbor with his legendary father-in-law, "Chief" Lewis G. Seabrook.
General Manager and Vice President, Captain Steven Kicklighter started in the tugboat industry in 1977 and holds an Operator of Uninspected Towboat License with the U.S.C.G. Steve has been in the Port of Charleston since 1992.
